A seven feet tall fibreglass statue of Swami Vivekananda was unveiled by Srimat Swami Balabhadranandaji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, on 11 March 2020. A number of monks from various centres of Ramakrishna Mission, devotees, teachers, students and well-wishers were present on the occasion.
The fibreglass statue of Swamiji in Chicago pose, made by Amar Pal of Kumartuli, Kolkata, has been placed under a concrete canopy in the premises of Ramakrishna Mission Ucchatar Madhyamik School, managed by Kanpur Ashrama. The unveiling ceremony was followed by an hour-long public meeting in the Vivekananda Hall of the school. Near 200 people attended the meeting.
Besides, a steel plaque, three feet by six feet, with 10 teachings of Swami Vivekananda about the ideal and aim of education etched on it, was also unveiled. The plaque has been placed on the wall in the verandah next to the statue.
On this occasion, the Ashrama also brought out a folder in Hindi containing Swamiji’s ideas on education and a brief introduction to Ramakrishna Mission and Kanpur Ashrama.
